Life Drawing Workshops
Nothing sharpens your observational skills faster than drawing a living, breathing person. Our life drawing workshops in Dublin bring together small groups of learners around a professional model, guided by an experienced instructor who helps you capture proportion, gesture, anatomy basics, and the subtle language of the human form.
Observational Drawing
Train your eye-hand connection through direct observation of a live model, building skills no photo reference can replicate.
Anatomy Basics
Understand the underlying structure of the human figure — enough anatomy to make your drawings feel grounded and alive.
Gesture & Quick Poses
Short timed poses from 2 to 20 minutes develop speed, confidence, and the ability to capture the essence of movement.
Supportive Small Group
Maximum 10 participants per session. Friendly, non-critical environment that welcomes art college prep students and curious hobbyists alike.
Digital Illustration Basics
Ready to explore the digital canvas? Our illustration fundamentals course bridges traditional drawing skills and modern digital tools — no prior software experience needed.
From Pencil to Procreate — 6-Week Course
This beginner-friendly course takes you from a blank canvas (digital this time) to confident illustration. You'll get comfortable with brushes, layers, colour fills, and simple composition in Procreate, or a comparable tool — without ever feeling overwhelmed. We focus on visual communication: how to make your images clear, expressive, and distinctly yours.
No Tablet? No Problem.
We can advise on affordable drawing tablets and styluses to suit every budget. You don't need top-of-the-line equipment to get started — just your creativity and a willingness to explore.
For Freelancers & Designers
Whether you want to add illustration to your freelance toolkit or simply create personal artwork digitally, this course gives you a practical, low-pressure entry point into digital art.
Traditional → Digital Bridge
Already sketching on paper? We help you translate your hand-drawn skills directly into a digital workflow — making the transition feel natural, not daunting.

Dublin is a city made for sketchers — from the Georgian terraces of Ballsbridge to the canals and coastline nearby. Our landscape and urban sketching workshops take you outside (and back inside when the Irish weather insists) to capture the world around you with speed, spontaneity, and growing skill.

Capture streetscapes, architecture, cafés, and city life — building visual observation skills and a personal travel sketch journal of your Dublin experiences.

We build skills in a logical sequence — never jumping ahead, never leaving anyone behind. Our structured curriculum means you always know what you're learning and why, every single week.

No 'just draw whatever you feel' ambiguity. Every course has a clear progression from session one to the final class — so you know you're building real, transferable drawing skills, not just spending an evening doodling.
Materials Guidance Included
Confused by what pencils, sketchbooks, or tablets to buy? We guide you on exactly what you need — nothing unnecessary, nothing overpriced. Some materials are provided; others come with clear, budget-conscious recommendations.
Visible Progress, Every Class
Students consistently describe a 'lightbulb moment' somewhere in their first course. From confidence in drawing a straight line to capturing a face from life — the progress is real, measurable, and deeply satisfying.
Student Results & Testimonials
Every one of these students arrived as a complete beginner. Here's what happened when they gave themselves permission to learn.
"I came to Sylvanspirit Studios having not picked up a pencil since school — we're talking twenty-five years. I assumed I was just 'not creative'. After eight weeks on the beginners drawing course, I'd filled an entire sketchbook and could genuinely shade a face. The instructor never once made me feel behind. I'm now on my second course and thinking about life drawing. Life-changing is not an exaggeration."
"The life drawing session was the most focused I've felt in months. The instructor helped me see the human form as shapes and lines rather than an intimidating whole. I left feeling proud of what I'd drawn."
"I'm an expat from China and wanted something social and creative. The digital illustration course was brilliant — the instructor explained everything clearly and the small group made it feel safe to ask 'dumb' questions. Already registered for the landscape sketching workshop next!"
"The urban sketching workshop was exactly what I needed. I spent a Saturday morning drawing Dublin's streets and I now have a beautiful sketchbook page I'm genuinely proud of. Perfect for a tourist who wanted a real experience, not just sightseeing."
"As a working mum I wasn't sure I'd manage a full 8-week course. The evening slots made it possible. This is genuinely my favourite part of the week — two hours where it's just me, a pencil, and something beautiful slowly appearing on the page."
"I took the digital illustration basics course hoping to build a portfolio for freelance work. The instructor understood exactly where a beginner gets stuck and gave us the precise tools and confidence to move forward. Already picked up my first small illustration commission!"
About the Studio & Instructor
Sylvanspirit Studios was founded in Ballsbridge, Dublin with one clear belief: that drawing is a skill, not a talent — and every adult who wants to learn deserves a patient, structured, and genuinely encouraging place to do so.
Our lead instructor brings years of experience in art education, working with adults at all starting points — from those who genuinely struggle to draw a straight line, to hobbyists who've been self-teaching for years and want proper structured guidance. The teaching philosophy is simple: clear demonstrations, honest and gentle correction, and a curriculum that creates visible progress with every session.
The studio is located in the leafy Ballsbridge neighbourhood of Dublin — a calm, welcoming creative space that feels a world away from the pressure and noise of the everyday. We work across pencil drawing, figure drawing from life, landscape and urban sketching, and digital illustration — always with the goal of building confident, independent artists from total beginners.
